Stanford offers a mindful approach to pain relief

KPC2020 Faculty member Beth Darnall, PhD is making news with her program My Surgical Success:

It may sound New Agey, but a peer-reviewed Stanford study published in November in the journal Pain Medicine suggests that the program, called My Surgical Success, has real potential in helping surgical patients deal with postoperative pain.

In the study, researchers reported that women who watched the videos before breast cancer surgery stopped using opioids nearly a week sooner than those who didn’t.
